TASTE-O-METER Rating

"David Rio Flamingo Vanilla Decaf chai substitutes the sucrolase sweetener (Splenda® brand) in place of cane sugar. As a result, the sweetness is perhaps a bit less "full" tasting and more of a piercing quality (fitting the profile of virtually all the substitute sweeteners). IMO this one will benefit by adding a little milk for a slightly thicker result, as I've found this to effectively mask the altered type of sweetness in this cup. Of course, if you like that sort of thing (the quality of sucralose), then no need! All in all, it's a great option for those looking for a decaf AND sugar free chai mix option."

    sweeter than expected

This Chai is definitely much higher on the sweet side and lower on the spiciness than what one might expect for a beverage made out of spices. The sweetness isn't distinctly "sugary," but a lighter sweetness. It didn't strike me as artificial since Splenda is much more natural tasting than say, Nutrasweet, but to my taste there is something lacking. This product is for those of softer pallet.
