The Power Chai is excellent tasting, and has less sugar than other chais. It also has Matcha which is very healthy. Love this chai!

    Thank you reviewer GTO

Posted by Samantha on 12th May 2022

Thank you to reviewer GTO for the idea on how to make this tea less sweet. I did not read all the way to the bottom of the page where it stated that the first ingredient in this tea is cane sugar followed by maltodextrin, so much for my goal to switch to chai to be healthier. I thought I would just have to throw it away, but I'm going to try straining the sugar out. While the tea is delicious, if your goal is health, you may want to look elsewhere. Lesson learned on thoroughly reading the description before buying.

    Power Chai 3 lb. bag

Posted by JG on 12th May 2022

David Rio's Power Chai with matcha is one of my favorite chais, and the 3 lb. bag is the most economical choice because it is concentrated, requiring only 1 tbs. of powder rather than 2. However, I discovered that the taste of this mix is somewhat different, and I actually prefer the flavor of the mix in the smaller canister.

    First Time Chai User

This brand and type was absolutely delicious. I spooned 3 tablespoons into the bottom of the glass carafe of my automatic coffee maker. I had put 16 ounces of water I that maker which equaled the "4" mark on the carafe. I then "brewed" the plain water to heat it into the carafe which had the powdered chai. When it was finished, I swirled the carafe around to really mix the hot water and the chai. I didn't use milk to make it a latte. I don't have that kind of time I the morning. I can set this up the night before and flick the "on" switch in the morning. I like it this way!

    Trick to make less sweet

Posted by GTO on 12th May 2022

If you prefer your chai less-sweet, like I do, here is a little trick you do with this David Rio Chai Masala Organic Chai. Not that this is overly sweet. It's actually fairly low on the sweetness-scale compared to many other chais. But I like my chai "hot and very spicy" so reducing the sweet lets me increase the flavor without too much sweet. David Rio Chai Masala Organic Chai dry mix has large and small particles. The large ones are quite a bit sweeter than the small ones and look like organic "raw" sugar. Maybe they are the "Organic evaporated cane juice" - I don't know? Anyway, I use an ordinary kitchen strainer to separate the large and small particles. I use the large, sweet particles for other dishes like ice cream (they retain a good amount of chainess flavor) while I make my chai from the small particles.

    Medium-strong Chai

Posted by John on 12th May 2022

I enjoyed the crisp flavor produced by the combination of spices and their strength, which I would describe as being a medium strong chai. The only issue I have was that the powder did not easily dissolve in hot milk. The secret to effectively dissolve it is to use two ounces of boiling water to dissolve the powder and then top it off with 6 ounces of warm milk. It is wonderful that this is an organic product!
